The most wonderful place
Being an opera student, I had so many opportunities inside and outside of College.
The course allowed me to gain so much practical and professional experience, while Cardiff and Wales in general is an amazing city full of opportunities for young musicians at the start of their career. Their relationship with WNO is also incredible for networking and gaining industry knowledge.
I had a great 4 years and highly recommend.

Great uni, good course
The best decision I've ever made
I firmly believe that RWCMD has the best quality of training there is. Not to say that other schools don't have it as well, but I genuinely don't see how I could've gotten better training or been more prepared for the difficult industry I chose. That being said, RWCMD is not one to chase their students- they will push you as much as you push yourself. Royal Welsh is for hard workers- and if that sounds like you, you will get more than your money's worth.
The excellence along which I was studying was intimidating, but my year group was incredibly close and supportive, and we were very close throughout. The tutors were professional, supportive and kind- always looking after our mental and physical health (which was massively important under the pressure of a conservatoire and the crazy schedules we worked with for three years). But despite that, they were firm and honest, ensuring to get a great balance between mentorship and training excellence which you could really see in the quality of the work of the alumni in third year.
I could honestly praise it all day. I remember my uni days very fondly and will be eternally grateful for how much I grew as both an actor and a person during my time there. It truly changed my life for the better. So if this appeals to you, I definitely encourage you to give it a go- it might just change yours too.
