(1)·By Sarah E·Food / Beverage Studies· Aug 2025 My son applied for Junior College here and all was fairly ok, except Sarah Benfield falsified my son's answers for the interview, and then they lied about his character reference, first they didn't receive it, then it was insufficient, then it was received too late, but our character reference provider was emailed by the college, that it was sufficient and on time. I've made official complaints against the college and there is no impartiality, all the staff cover for eachother and my complaints have not been upheld. My son wanted to attend the catering course and was told "baking isn't cooking" when he said his favourite hobby is baking (he makes all the family birthday & celebration cakes!). A very poor attitude by a senior member of their staff. The standards of this college are not as good as they once were, my oldest attended previously, who was also home educated, and he passed with flying colours, was even given an award by the college, but this time, home education seemed to be a point against the applicant. My son was told he was "unsuitable for the college environment", he studies hard, applies himself, can follow a timetable and already wears the colours of the JC uniform, but it somehow still all went against him. But while my son was attending the college as part of the application process, he said the teaching was inconsistent and far too many breaks are offered, creating a disruptive environment that he struggled to concentrate in, so perhaps he is unsuitable for their inconsistent, disruptive, poorly led environment.
