Whether it’s luxury labels or the high street, you’ll explore the relationship between brands, consumers, and products and have the flexibility to shape your learning around your own interests and career goals.<br/><br/>While this isn’t a design-focused course, you’ll still work closely with fashion products, from selecting fabrics and understanding production methods, to looking at how items are packaged, distributed, and brought to market. The course is about tackling real industry challenges: how fashion businesses can become more sustainable while remaining profitable, how new technologies like AI and data are changing the way the industry works, and how global events influence sourcing and supply chains.<br/><br/>You have the option of a year-long work placement in your Third Year, allowing you to gain invaluable industry experience and confidence. This course will provide you with the skills required for making business decisions combined with effective communication skills required in the global fashion industry.<br/><br/>**Key features**<br/>- Gain a sound understanding of fibres, yarns, fabrics, product construction, planning, manufacturing and distribution of a consumer-focused range, with an understanding of commercial strategies.<br/><br/><br/>- Complete a year-long work placement, in the UK or abroad, gaining a certificate or diploma in professional practice.<br/><br/><br/>- Work on live projects with brands such as John Lewis, Next, Boden and ASOS.<br/><br/><br/>- Attend guest lectures with professionals from brands such as Boohoo, River Island, Urban Outfitters and #brillthings.<br/><br/><br/>- Opportunity to apply for a European or international exchange to places like the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Amsterdam Fashion Institute and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.<br/><br/><br/>- Go on optional study trips to places such as Tokyo, New York, Première Vision in Paris and Pitti Filati in Florence.<br/><br/><br/>- Exhibit your work at our Showcase, with the opportunity to take part in Graduate Fashion Week and the ASBCI National Dissertation and Innovation Awards. .<br/><br/><br/>- This course attracts students from around the world, offering you a dynamic experience reflective of the working environment.<br/><br/><br/>- Top 15 in the UK for Art and Design in Complete University Guide 2026). <br/><br/><br/>**Assessment**<br/><br/>Your learning will reflect what’s expected in the industry. Alongside more familiar forms of assessment like group and solo presentations, projects, reports, and business planning, you’ll also experience industry-style simulations designed to build essential skills in areas such as strategic thinking and creative problem-solving. And there are no formal written exams on this course.<br/><br/>**Employability**<br/><br/>Recent year-long Placements include ASOS, Wrangler and Kipling (Belgium), Next, Marks & Spencer, Boohoo, River Island, Nike, TK Maxx, Urban Outfitters, Stella McCartney and Ralph Lauren.
